Estate Jewellery Consultation

   image

Over the years Fine Jewellery by Colette has acquired quite a vast collection of vintage jewellery.  Colette built her inventory by restoring and redesigning estate, antique and vintage pieces. Through buying and selling at international antique shows, Colette’s collection grew into the refined collection as it is known today.

We are often asked the difference between Estate, Antique and Vintage Jewellery:

Jewellery is considered “Estate” if the piece in question has been previously owned.

It is considered “Antique” if the item is over 100 years old, often very valuable due to its age and level of craftsmanship.

On the other hand, a piece of jewellery is considered “vintage” if it is between 50 and 100 years old (unlike clothing which is considered vintage after 20 years or more).

At Fine Jewellery by Colette we are happy to help you understand your estate, antique and vintage pieces. We have been able to guide many clients with advice on whether they should restore and keep their older pieces, give them away as heirlooms, consign them through our store to find new owners, or trade them in to put towards a new store purchase.  Whatever you decide, our reliable jewellery experts are available to meet with you or your designated family members to sort through and discuss your estate collection.

Whether it is developing an inheritance plan ahead of time, assisting an executor with equitably dividing items or just confirming the true values of passed down items of jewellery, we can help with all your questions.
